Declaration of Goods Valued Above £300
Any shipment containing goods with a total value above £300 must be declared to Josh Cargo before the shipment is accepted.
Customers must provide an accurate description of the goods and their true value. We may request supporting documents, such as receipts, invoices or other proof of value where appropriate.
Failure to declare high-value goods accurately may affect the handling of your shipment and any insurance claim.
Our Recommendation: Third-Party Transit Insurance
We strongly recommend that customers sending goods valued above £300 arrange suitable third-party cargo or transit insurance to protect against potential financial loss arising from loss of or damage to their goods during transportation.
Before purchasing insurance, please ensure that the policy:
- Covers the full declared value of your goods.
- Covers the relevant journey from the UK to Nigeria.
- Covers the transport methods used for your shipment, where applicable.
- Clearly explains exclusions, excesses, claim requirements and compensation limits.
Please confirm directly with your insurer that your goods and journey are covered. Insurance is subject to the insurer's terms, conditions and exclusions.

- Goods are not automatically insured simply because they are accepted for shipment by Josh Cargo.
- Unless we expressly confirm otherwise in writing, customers should not assume that our shipping charges include insurance for the full value of their goods.
- Customers should retain receipts, photographs and other relevant proof of ownership and value.
- Failure to declare goods accurately, or to comply with an insurance policy's requirements, may affect the outcome of a claim.
